FINDING GOLD - SUNDAY TIMES AWARD WINNER

FINDING GOLD

FINDING GOLD

What a fabulous week that has been!

After returning from a series of very enjoyable workshops in the lakes, I had planned a nice dinner at a favourite restaurant on the Saturday evening.

We were just about to leave the house, when I received an email informing me that my photograph, 'FINDING GOLD' had won the coveted #OMGB 'Amazing Moments' section in the Sunday Times Landscape Photographer of The Year award.

I was and still am on cloud nine as I literally had no idea.

Out of the blue, I had been contacted in August via Downing Street, (thought it was a wind up at first!!) by the VISITBRITAIN team who wanted the image to promote the UK across the globe. I was naturally delighted by that and kept it all under wraps. They insisted that this would not affect my entry into the competition as their requirement was completely separate.

The past ten days has seen a constant stream of online and private message from across the world. Very humbling and I thank all who have taken the time to write to me. They are still coming in.

To add to that, I also received a further accolade when 'The Guardian' listed the photograph as one of the worlds best twenty images.

We now look forward to a cracking night out in London for the awards ceremony in late November and I will keep you updated as to any further developments.

Once again thanks to all who have contacted me. I really appreciate your support.

It means a lot to me.

Regards

Mark
