Those of you who know me, are aware that for over thirty five years, I produced and directed numerous TV programmes. Whilst I was also teaching photography and video to specialist units within the Home Office, I over saw the production of multi media productions for internal and external consumption on their behalf. On top of that, I was also delivering my own landscape work, concurrently, as a separate entity.
I trained at the BBC and enjoyed working with some of the most interesting people across the spectrum, often finding myself in national and world situations that I never thought would ever happen. Trust me, it was a busy and exciting time! The pace could be frenetic but I was a lot younger then ha ha!
I found working on televison production to be both rewarding and a furtherance of the creative process. It was a huge jigsaw puzzle to create, break up and then piece together again. Hard work but satisfying! I was lucky to work with a team who were as dedicated as I was and we were rewarded by winning a number of national and international TV awards. As I write this news page, those trophies sit with pride of place on the shelves behind me!
An image from many moons ago….On the set of ‘TIP THE BALANCE’ which was a production that starred Robert Powell as a game show host. It was a hard hitting programme concerning drugs, their addiction and was to break the cycle. It was distributed throughout the country.
Now though?
To be honest, I am happiest walking the Lakesland fells or the mountains in Eryri with my camera in hand.
My happy places!
When I finally retired from the HO, I said I would concentrate entirely on the single image and I have been true to my word on that.
Until now…
Times have changed, as has the market out there and it is amazing what you can now do with an iPhone 14, a gimbal and a microphone!
To that end, I have now posted a video, my first under the ‘MovingStills Production’ channel on YouTube. It was shot in the Ogwen Valley during the autumn.
It turned out to be testing conditions to say the least, hence the title.
The advert thumbnail you see as you click onto YouTube.
I would like to pass on a big thank you to Vicki Procter who added an extra camera on the shoot. I couldn’t have done it without her.
Please click on this title link ‘WEATHER ROULETTE’ and it will take you straight to it.
I hope you enjoy watching and more will follow in due course.I won’t put a time limit on the next production but I have several already lined up!
Regards
Mark
